Crieff Hydro, Scotland’s leading independent hospitality business, has announced the purchase of two popular hotels on the west coast of Scotland – the Isles of Glencoe Hotel and the Ballachulish Hotel.
Crieff Hydro Family of Hotels has managed these two hotels since 2014, having taken over after a number of unsuccessful management companies. During these two years business has improved substantially, the number of employees has grown and the long term future of these hotels has now been secured. Crieff Hydro worked with their banking partner Santander on financing this deal.
With 112 bedrooms between the two hotels, Crieff Hydro plan to continue investing in both hotels, starting this autumn with bedroom improvements.
Chief Executive, Stephen Leckie, explained the importance of securing these hotels;
“These two hotels complement the existing collection we own. Their family-feel, great locations, access to beautiful scenery and warm homely feeling just make them a perfect fit. We have proven so far that with local management and involving people who are passionate about Scotland in the business, they can be a great success. We look forward to seeing these businesses continue to grow”
The 59 bedroom Isles of Glencoe Hotel was purpose built in the 1990’s on the shoreline of Loch Leven, sat on the edge of the village of Ballachulish. With loch views from the restaurant and bar, and its own swimming pool, this hotel has been a popular destination for couples and families exploring the west coast.
The 53 bedroom Ballachulish Hotel is steeped in history, having been the crossing point of Loch Linnhe for centuries, first by ferry and more recently across the Ballachulish Bridge. With a classical Victorian design, roaring fires and impressive views travelers have made the Ballachulish their base for over 100 years.
Crieff Hydro Family of Hotels now owns six hotels, two in Crieff; Crieff Hydro Hotel and Murraypark, two in Peebles; Peebles Hydro and The Park and now these two new additions.
